Vessy Music Magazine

My main task is to produce a front cover, contents page and a double spread page for my own music magazine. A music magazine is a publication dedicated to music news and culture. Such magazines usually include music news, photo shoots, interviews, gigs information, competitions, record reviews, concert reviews and occasionally have a covermount with recorded music. Most music magazines have a specific target audience according to the genre of music the magazine is written for. There are different rock, pop and classical magazines such as Q, Rolling stone, Kerrang and NME . They all have different design, content and style but have one thing in common- they share the aim to attract target audience and encourage them to be interested in music and spent their money on music magazines.
Nowadays high quality altered images and good level of visual and written communication are essential for music magazines. The high level of competition in the media business made companies come up with unique ideas and develop new techniques of adjusting and altering images. It is now incredibly hard to please consumers therefore editors, designers and journalists have become more creative and trained.However there are number of problems arising in the music magazine industry which I will discuss later on in my project.
I am now going to buy various of music maazines to get familar with the typicall looks and features of music magaiznes. This would also be helpful in showing me what are the usual techniques used in creating te fornt cover of a music magazine(e.g. pictures wtih strong eye contact, bright colours, image adjustments and trimming etc.)
